Synopsis: Kerala Cafe is a compilation of 10 short films. Kerala Cafe, is in fact a modest tea stall at a railway station and certain characters from each of the films are somehow connected to it. ‘Nostalgia’ is about an NRI is all nostalgic about his motherland when he is in Dubai and a different man altogether in Kerala. ‘Island Express’ is a film that revisits a real-life train tragedy. ‘Lalitham Hiranmayam’ is about a man caught between his wife and another girl. ‘Mritunjayam’ is about a mystery surrounding an old house where a young journalist comes for an investigative story. ‘Happy Journey’ is about a bus journey to Kozhikode which brings a man in his 50s and a creepy young woman together. ‘Aviramam’ is about a couple whose lives take a drastic turn after recession hits the existence of IT company. ‘Off Season’ is about a tryst of a tourist guide with a Portuguese couple in Kovalam. ‘Bridge’ is a tale told in two parallel tracks about a young boy who finds a pet kitten from the street and a son who is forced to leave his ailing mother in the streets. ‘Makal’ is about the flesh trade that happens under the guise of adoption. ‘Puramkazhchakal’ narrates a bus journey where people of different mindsets, purpose and nature go along for a while.
